Most people hear "Red Rocks" and think concerts. We did too. But you don't need a concert ticket to experience one of Colorado's most incredible places. 🎶
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is free to visit any day there isn't an event, and there is so much more to do than most families realize. We walked the amphitheatre, explored the visitor center, which features exhibits on legendary performers, the venue's rich music history, and the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and took in views that stretch all the way to the Denver skyline.
We also tackled the short hike from the stage level up around the mountain. Just .37 miles, it took us about 18 minutes. It was 89 degrees, we were at a high altitude, and Caegan had opinions about all of it. 😄 But the views from the top made every step worth it.
We first visited Red Rocks in 2018, and coming back with the boys, now teenagers, was one of those moments that reminds you why family adventures are worth making time for. Some places just never get old.

⏰ Park hours are dawn to dusk — event days may close the park earlier, so plan accordingly
🅿️ Multiple parking lots — the upper lots provide the best views overlooking the amphitheatre
🌡️ It gets HOT in summer — bring water, especially if you have little ones
🏔️ Altitude hits harder than you expect — take it slow on the trails
🐕 Dogs are allowed on park trails with a leash, but not inside the amphitheatre
🚗 About 20 minutes from downtown Denver in Morrison, Colorado
